Nicole Maldonado, O.D
Dry Eye & Myopia Control Provider in San Antonio, Texas
Owner – Sitterle Vision Source & Dry Eye Center
Dr. Nicole Maldonado is a San Antonio native and therapeutic optometrist who focuses on advanced dry eye treatment and myopia control for children.
As the co-owner of Sitterle Vision Source & Dry Eye Center, she and her team have built a modern, medically focused optometry practice dedicated to solving root causes — not just prescribing quick fixes.
After graduating from O’Connor High School, Dr. Maldonado earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she trained extensively in ocular disease, retinal pathology, and medical eye care. Her externship experience includes the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic at Memorial Hermann Hospital and the South Texas Veterans Administration, where she developed a strong foundation in complex eye disease management.
Today, Dr. Maldonado is known in San Antonio for her expertise in treating chronic dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), ocular rosacea, and recurrent styes and chalazia and she offers advanced in-office treatments including:
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy
- Radiofrequency (RF) treatment
- Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
- Amniotic membranes
- Prescription and customized medical management
Her philosophy is simple: Dry eye is a medical condition that deserves medical solutions.
In addition to dry eye specialty care, Dr. Maldonado provides evidence-based myopia control treatments for children and teens, including MiSight® 1 day contact lenses, orthokeratology (CRT), Stellest™ lenses, and low-dose atropine therapy. As both a doctor and a mother, she is deeply committed to protecting children’s long-term vision and reducing the risk of future sight-threatening complications.
Dr. Maldonado believes patients deserve to feel heard, educated, and empowered. She is passionate about clear communication, innovation in clinical care, and building a team culture focused on confidence and excellence.
When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three-year old son, running, reading, volunteering/working on meaningful soul-fulfilling projects, and of course — cheering on the San Antonio Spurs.
